Early Childhood Development

The KICP Early Childhood Development (ECD) programme supports practitioners working in selected unfunded ECD centres as they work toward their National Qualifications Framework (NQF) Level 4 certification. This initiative provides more than just a formal qualification — it offers hands-on support and fosters meaningful professional growth within real-world learning environments. Each participating centre receives a set of essential start-up learning materials and practitioners are trained in how to use these resources effectively to enrich their daily programmes.

For many children attending these centres, this marks their first experience of structured learning, laying the foundation for transformative developmental outcomes. Practitioners receive regualr training and on-site visits from a KICP Project Mentor who provides direct, practical guidance. In addition, ECD centre principals are invited to quarterly professional development sessions, which play a key role in strengthening the overall management and educational quality of their centres.
