Khanyisa Inanda Seminary Community Projects
is a teacher development organisation
working to achieve educational equity through
Pre-Service Teacher Education
The KICP Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programme is an extended student teacher internship (ESTI): our pre-service teacher education and development relies on student teachers engaging in ITE qualifications through Open Distance Learning (ODL) while being placed as full-time student teacher interns in schools. The programme aims to produce skilled, competent, and confident educators who are part of the solution to challenges facing the education sector in South Africa.
In-Service Teacher Education
Teachers learn most effectively when professional development is rooted in their own context. As such, the KICP Teacher Professional Development (TPD) programme offers workshops informed by the realities of the South African education system. These personal and professional development workshops are most effectively sustained when they are supported by the School Managament Team (SMT) and local government officials - relationships that KICP strives to secure.
Our work is built on these
3 cross-cutting themes
Social and Emotional Learning
At the core of KICP programmes is the wellness of all involved. Therefore, Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is the foundation sustaining all three programmes. KICP endeavours to help teachers develop the emotional intelligence and social awareness necessary to foster deep learning.
Sustainable School Development
The objective of KICP is to create lasting change. This is achieved by securing partnerships with the KZN Department of Education to improve overall management systems and communication at all levels - through schools, cicuits, and districts.
Digital Teaching and Learning
Digital Teaching and Learning (DTL) is across-cutting theme in all KICP programmes. KICP believes in promoting a blend of digital and classroom learning, equipping educational professionals to be confident when teaching in this blended format.
